'Berlin,' a spy thriller mystery starring Aparshakti Khurana and Ishwak Singh, is headed for a direct-to-digital release, the makers announced on Monday.

Set in the early 1990s in Delhi, the film is the brainchild of writer-director Atul Sabharwal and is produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with Yippee Ki Yay Motion Pictures. It also features prominent actors Rahul Bose, Anupriya Goenka, and Kabir Bedi.

After being screened at the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne last week, 'Berlin' will have its exclusive premiere on ZEE5. The plot revolves around a speech and hearing-impaired man (Singh) who faces espionage charges, with Khurana depicting a sign language expert. Sabharwal described the film as a 'labour of love,' and expressed optimism about its impact on audiences.

Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5, highlighted the film's critical acclaim at international film festivals. He expressed confidence that 'Berlin' would set a new benchmark in the Indian espionage genre and enhance ZEE5's appeal. Producer Manav Shrivastav of Yippee Ki Yay Motion Pictures echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the film's potential to reach a wider audience.

The premiere date for 'Berlin' will be announced soon.
