The Indian Coast Guard is mourning the loss of its Director General, Rakesh Pal, who passed away in Chennai on Sunday due to a cardiac arrest. Pal had been instrumental in boosting the force's operational prowess since he assumed charge in July of last year.

Prominent figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, expressed deep sorrow over Pal's untimely demise. The officer had been hospitalized at Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital after experiencing chest pain, where he later passed away. Singh, who described Pal as 'an able and committed officer,' also visited the hospital to pay his respects.

Rakesh Pal's impressive career in the Indian Coast Guard spanned 34 years, during which he held numerous key positions. An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Pal's tenure was marked by significant contributions to maritime security. Arrangements are being made to bring his mortal remains to Delhi.
