S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Kuwait on Sunday for a day-long visit aimed at bolstering India-Kuwait bilateral relations. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by his Kuwaiti counterpart, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.

'Namaste Kuwait. Thank FM Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya for the warm welcome. Looking forward to my engagements today with the Kuwaiti leadership,' Jaishankar posted on X. The visit is an opportunity to review various aspects of India-Kuwait ties, including trade, investment, energy, security, and cultural exchanges, said the Ministry of External Affairs in a statement.

This diplomatic visit comes nearly two months after a tragic fire in a building in Kuwait claimed the lives of 45 Indians. The fire in June left at least 49 foreign workers dead and 50 others injured.
