Independence Day Celebrations Spark Patriotism Across Punjab and Haryana

Punjab and Haryana marked Independence Day with festivities under tight security. Flag hoistings were led by top government officials, including Punjab and Haryana's governors and chief ministers. Celebrations included parades, speeches, and the remembrance of freedom fighters, along with announcements on state initiatives and accomplishments.

Punjab and Haryana, along with their shared capital Chandigarh, celebrated Independence Day on Thursday amid stringent security measures.

Officials confirmed that flag hoisting ceremonies were conducted at various district headquarters and other locations. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria raised the national flag in Chandigarh, while Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya unfurled the flag in Yamunanagar.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led the flag hoisting in Jalandhar, and his Haryana counterpart Nayab Singh Saini did the same in Kurukshetra. Mann, speaking on the 78th Independence Day, highlighted the contributions of martyrs such as Bhagat Singh and outlined his government's initiatives, including new canal projects, Schools of Eminence, mohalla clinics, and job creation. He also detailed the state's intensified efforts against drug smuggling and road safety enhancements.
