Just-retired PR Sreejesh, who has been a formidable presence defending the goal for nearly two decades, has ended his career on a high note with a second Olympic hockey bronze medal. Sreejesh, 36, was instrumental in India's hard-fought 2-1 victory against Spain in the bronze-medal match at the Tokyo Olympics.

Sreejesh believes India has ample talent to find a suitable replacement for him. 'There won't be a vacuum. Someone will come in my place, for sure,' he said, emphasizing the cyclical nature of sports. Having been offered a mentoring role in the Indian junior team, he now faces uncertainty about his future but remains committed to the sport he loves.

Reflecting on India's performance, Sreejesh highlighted the crucial role of the Hockey India League in developing young players. He believes the league provides invaluable exposure and helps athletes handle the pressures of international competition.
