The killing of an American citizen during a protest last week in the Israeli-occupied West Bank was described as 'unprovoked and unjustified' by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday.
Speaking at a news conference in London, Blinken condemned the incident and issued his strongest criticism yet of the Israeli military's actions. 'No one should be shot and killed for attending a protest,' Blinken stated firmly.
He called for the Israeli security forces to make substantial changes: 'In our judgment, Israeli security forces need to make some fundamental changes in the way that they operate in the West Bank, including changes to their rules of engagement.'
