West Bengal Bids Farewell to Former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee
The mortal remains of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will be kept at the CPI(M) state headquarters for public tributes before being moved to NRS Medical College and Hospital on Friday. The mortal remains of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, former Chief Minister of West Bengal, will be on display at the CPI(M) state headquarters, offering an opportunity for leaders and the public to pay their last respects. This ceremonial farewell will occur before his body is transferred to NRS Medical College and Hospital on Friday.
Bhattacharjee passed away at his south Kolkata residence on Thursday morning after battling prolonged respiratory illness and age-related complications. Honoring his commitment to science, he had pledged to donate his body.
His body, currently held in a mortuary, will be moved to the state assembly at 11 am and then to the CPI(M) state headquarters at Muzaffar Ahmed Bhavan by noon. Here, it will be available for public homage until 3.15 pm before being taken to the DYFI headquarters. The final journey will commence from there to NRS Medical College and Hospital for research purposes.
