Lisa Ray Redefines Iconic 'Afreen Afreen' Moment at India Couture Week

Actor Lisa Ray made a captivating return to the ramp at India Couture Week, embodying a new version of herself while walking to the tune of her old hit 'Afreen Afreen.'

Originally composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and written by Javed Akhtar, the song catapulted Ray to fame in 1996. While she once inwardly cringed at the association, Ray seemed content to embrace the tune once again during designer Rahul Mishra's show.

'I filmed that video 25 years ago, and I was reflecting on that,' Ray said during a post-show press conference. 'I was a very different person back then, not very confident or comfortable in my skin. Today gave me a new opportunity to embody a new version of myself.'

Approached by Mishra and his wife Divya while on a retreat in Kerala, Ray cut short her stay to participate in the show. She expressed her admiration for the designer's craftsmanship. Wearing an intricately designed sari gown, Ray thanked models for pushing her to walk the ramp, despite initial nervousness.
