Pierre de Coubertin: The Legacy of the Modern Olympics Visionary

Pierre de Coubertin, the mastermind behind the modern Olympic Games, revolutionized sports by using them as a means for educational reform in France. Inspired by Thomas Arnold, Coubertin's vision materialized in 1894 when he established the modern Olympics, which has since grown into the world's premier sporting event.

Although Coubertin passed away in obscurity in 1937, his legacy lives on. France acknowledges his contributions through over 600 places named after him, including sports stadiums, streets, and schools. His great-great-grandniece, Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, confirmed this in an exclusive PTI interview, noting the establishment of the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association in 2016 to preserve his memory.

The Association, led by Alexandra, organizes exhibitions and collaborates with Olympic partners to keep Coubertin's spirit alive. They emphasize his belief in the unifying power of sports, advocating for peace, inclusion, and the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship, which remain vital in today's world.
