On Sunday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its pivotal role in the Kargil War 25 years ago. The force executed thousands of strike missions and helicopter sorties, significantly aiding the Army's efforts against the adversary.
Marking the silver jubilee of the 1999 Kargil victory, 'Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti' was celebrated at Air Force Station Sarsawa from July 12-26. The Ministry of Defence noted the event honored the warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari on Saturday paid tribute at the Station War Memorial and interacted with the next of kin. A stunning air show featured the Akash Ganga Team and aircraft such as the Jaguar, Su-30 MKI, and Rafale. The 'Missing Man' formation and static displays of helicopters like the Mi-17 V5, Cheetah, and Chinook were also arranged.
