A meticulously crafted map-based web portal and book titled 'Woh Dilli: Memories of a City' were unveiled in the national capital, capturing the life and landmarks of Shahjahanabad during the 17th and 18th centuries. The project, a brainchild of the Advanced Study Institute of Asia at SGT University and Sanrachna Foundation, aims to bridge the past and present by offering a comprehensive view of the historic city's rich tapestry.

Shahjahanabad, renowned for its majestic Red Fort and Jama Masjid, flourished in the Mughal era. The newly launched project features models, illustrations, pictures, and stories, providing an immersive historical experience. The launch event witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as former lieutenant governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, senior Hindi journalist Ram Bahadur Rai, historian Swapna Liddle, and urban planner Shubam Mishra.

'This is a brilliant effort to keep the memories of a vibrant city alive. I hope this concept will spread not only across Delhi but to other parts of India and internationally,' said Jung. Co-created by Shubam Mishra, who is also the curator, the portal is based on a hand-drawn map from the mid-19th century. It serves as an interactive platform, inviting exploration of the history, culture, and lives of 1800s Delhi. Veteran lyricist Gulzar shared nostalgic memories, highlighting the unique character of Delhi, emphasizing its rich heritage and vibrant culture.
