Ethiopian agency commences investigation on all higher private institutions

The Ethiopian government has launched investigations on all private higher institutions to ensure the quality of education doesn’t deteriorate further.

Unveiled by the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency of Ethiopia, the investigation intends to penalize the institutions that are compromising with the quality of education and engaged in teaching the subjects they are not licensed for. It may even lead to veil the colleges and universities if the institutions do not comply to the Agency’s rules and regulations.

Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency of Ethiopia (HERQA) has identified 46 types of violations of the rules and regulations of the land that has reportedly compromised the quality of education in Ethiopia. Recent reports show the existence of higher education institutions that are issuing master degrees providing only few months of courses. While others are engaged in selling degrees and diplomas on demand to people who didn’t take any courses.

The Addis Ababa Transport Authority has terminated eight employees whose credentials were fake. While nine other employees were pardoned as they exposed themselves during the deadline set by the Addis Ababa Transport Authority, as reported by New Business Ethiopia.
