India has committed to training 175 civil servants from Maldives through specialized programs, as announced in an official statement on Thursday.
A bilateral meeting took place between National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) Director General V Srinivas and Maldives Civil Service Commission President Mohamed Nasih to discuss the implementation of the India-Maldives MoU for civil servant training from 2024 to 2029.
The MoU, originally signed between the NCGG and the Maldives Civil Service Commission, aims to uplift the capacities of 1,000 Maldivian civil servants through customized training programs. This agreement, renewed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Maldives' Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, will focus on middle and senior-level civil servants.
The NCGG will hold five specialized programs in 2024-2025, targeting 175 civil servants. This follows the successful training of 1,000 Maldivian civil servants in various disciplines, including field administration and anti-corruption, from 2019 to 2024.
This renewed collaboration will bolster the capabilities of Maldives' civil servants in public policy and governance, fostering stronger ties between India and the Maldives.
