Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday led an unprecedented conference of District Commissioners and Co-District Commissioners at Lok Sewa Bhawan, Guwahati, focusing on governance improvement and public welfare. This significant gathering reviewed state initiatives, emphasizing the need for robust implementation of budgetary measures and advancing Advantage Assam 2.0.

In a statement on social media platform X, Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the importance of deploying a comprehensive government approach to advance flagship projects. This engagement followed the recent #AssamBudget2025, stressing the need to enact all budgetary commitments and capitalize on Advantage Assam 2's progress. The Chief Minister used the event to scrutinize the execution of key government schemes and accelerate regional development, issuing critical directives.

Discussions during the conference addressed varied agendas, notably compensation for pregnant workers in tea gardens, geotagging PMAY homes, expediting Mission Basundhara 3.0, optimizing Orunodoi, and implementing the CM Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, besides distributing 5 lakh gamosa. It also focused on strengthening Co-District Commissioners' roles in service delivery and preparations for the upcoming Panchayat Elections.

Joining the discussions were cabinet ministers like Atul Bora and Ranjeet Kumar Dass, alongside Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota and other senior officials. Following the unveiling of the Assam Budget 2025, plans to launch a satellite, ASSAMSAT, were discussed. Chief Minister Sarma noted a significant rise in capital expenditure, indicating a proactive fiscal strategy for the state's welfare. He also mentioned regulatory measures on inter-religion land transfers, reflecting socio-political sensitivities.
