Ambedkar University on Friday denied entry to former DUTA president Nandita Narain for a scheduled talk on gender and caste discrimination in educational institutes. The incident prompted the faculty members to organize the event outside the campus, accusing the administration of undemocratic behavior.
Narain was invited by the Ambedkar University Delhi Faculty Association (AUDFA) amid an ongoing protest addressing long-standing issues like punishment transfers, demotion, and discrimination. Despite completing a week-long vigil on Thursday, the administration barred Narain from speaking.
The university's Vice-Chancellor Anu Singh Lather stated that AUDFA failed to obtain the necessary permission for the event. Meanwhile, AUDFA members condemned the administration's actions as an attempt to divert attention from important issues, including gender and caste-based harassment.
