The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed pleas seeking the cancellation and re-test of the NEET-UG 2024 examination, emphasizing the lack of substantial evidence pointing to a systemic leak of question papers or other malpractices. According to the Court, the existing data did not support the claims of widespread irregularities.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET-UG 2024 exam on May 5 at 4,750 centers across 571 cities, including 14 international locations. Challenges to the exam arose soon after, with petitions alleging significant irregularities and numerous requests for a retest being submitted before the Court.
In its final ruling, the Supreme Court stated that annulling the exam would unfairly affect a vast number of honest candidates and would not be a rational decision without proof of a large-scale breach of confidentiality. The Court, therefore, upheld the results, affirming the NEET-UG 2024's validity.
