In 2024, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) emerged as leaders in enhancing urban transport infrastructure. While the DMRC achieved major construction milestones, including the completion of an 865-metre tunnel and the inaugural twin-tunnel under Phase-IV construction, the NCRTC made significant strides with the introduction of the Namo Bharat Corridor.
Despite these advancements, the DMRC faced a tragic incident on February 8 when a section of the Gokulpuri Metro Station collapsed, resulting in one death and four injuries. This prompted rigorous safety measures, including structural inspections and upgrades along the Pink Line.
The NCRTC also made strides in women's empowerment by launching a driving training program for over 500 women in Ghaziabad. Meanwhile, the introduction of integrated QR ticketing systems and app enhancements improved the commuter experience across both networks.
