A tragic fire erupted at a cooking oil factory near Jakarta, Indonesia, leading to the death of eight individuals, local fire authorities reported on Friday.
Approximately 20 firefighting trucks were deployed to the site. Most areas of the factory have been contained, though footage aired on Metro TV displayed flames and dense black smoke emanating from a building within the industrial complex in Bekasi, situated on Jakarta's eastern perimeter. The report confirmed the closure of roads surrounding the factory.
Bekasi's fire department head, Suhartono, stated that all bodies have been retrieved from the scene. However, he cautioned that the casualty count might increase, as three others were reported injured. An investigation into the fire's cause is currently being conducted, and the factory is managed by PT Primus Sanus Cooking Oil Industrial, also known as Priscolin.
