A tram derailed in downtown Oslo and plowed into a phone and computer shop on Tuesday, Norwegian police reported, causing minor injuries to four people. Approximately 20 commuters were aboard when the tram veered off tracks at an intersection on Storgata, a key thoroughfare near Oslo's main train station.
Eyewitness Mohnsin Munir recounted to local media the moment he noticed the tram hurtling at high speed. It was intended to turn left but derailed, proceeding straight into the store.
The tram driver, now suspect in the case, was among those injured. Police have yet to reveal the cause of the crash, pending a Safety Investigation Authority inquiry. Extensive damage to the shop and structural concerns about the building were noted.
