A mini-bus carrying nursing college students skidded off the road and plummeted into a ditch in Udhampur district, injuring at least 30 passengers, officials reported on Tuesday.
The vehicle was en route to Udhampur from Salmari when it crashed near village Farma around 12:30 p.m. Authorities promptly launched rescue operations, rushing the injured to Government Medical College Hospital in Udhampur for treatment.
Among the wounded, three were deemed 'serious' and are being transferred to Jammu for specialized care. Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai confirmed the incident involved 30 to 35 passengers, attributing the crash to suspected brake failure. An inquiry is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
