The Indian government's UDAN scheme, designed to connect smaller cities with air travel, has revolutionized the nation's aviation sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Monday.
Marking the eighth anniversary of the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme, Modi highlighted its impact in expanding India's network of airports and air routes, thereby enhancing accessibility to air travel for crores of citizens.
A post from a government handle on X noted that the scheme has facilitated over 2.8 lakh flights, allowing 1.5 crore passengers to enjoy affordable air travel by operationalizing 86 aerodromes and establishing 617 routes across the country.
