In a recent statement, Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury asserted that the Civil Aviation Ministry found 'no abnormality' in air ticket prices on the Agartala-Kolkata route.
Chowdhury had earlier addressed a letter to Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, raising concerns about rising ticket prices and urging the implementation of an upper cap. However, officials responded that the ministry has no role in pricing, which is determined by airline companies based on demand and ticket availability.
The minister further clarified that the observed airfares available on online platforms fell 'within the price bucket'. He also noted that the concentration of the domestic aviation sector was due to several airlines ceasing operations, leaving just a few dominant players.
