Quick commerce has swiftly emerged as a significant driver in the grocery shopping sector, with 31% of online shoppers now relying on instant delivery platforms and 39% utilizing them for top-up purchases, according to a NielsenIQ report.
The report, based on a survey of 4,500 consumers in major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, highlights the evolving shopping habits of people aged 18-65 who frequent hypermarkets, supermarkets, TT stores, and online stores.
The data reveals that 42% of shoppers use quick commerce for ready-to-eat meals and 45% for salty snacks, indicating a notable rise in multichannel shopping behavior. Shoppers are increasingly combining both modern trade and online platforms in their shopping routines, particularly in metropolitan areas. The report notes that 20% of offline shoppers also turn to online stores for their grocery needs, which is more pronounced in metro areas where online platforms are used more frequently for main shopping, while non-metro shoppers utilize them for top-up purchases.
