Nine iron rods discovered on the tracks in Punjab's Bathinda district briefly disrupted railway traffic, officials confirmed on Monday.

The rods were spotted near Bangi Nagar on the Delhi-Bathinda route on Sunday by a goods train loco pilot.

''We recovered nine iron rods from the spot,'' a Government Railway Police (GRP) official stated.

Travelling from Bathinda to BWL Kori, the goods train was delayed for 40 minutes as the rods were removed by the pointsman and assistant station master. Officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP visited the site and conducted a thorough search, including reviewing CCTV footage for clues. The Punjab GRP is actively investigating the incident.

An FIR has been filed against unidentified individuals suspected of placing the rods. ''An investigation is ongoing, and we expect to take action soon,'' Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Upadhyay remarked.
