The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday appealed to the Election Commission (EC) to finalize the assembly poll schedule by the first week of December. This would enable the current government to complete its term, the party emphasized.
A team led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar visited Ranchi to assess poll readiness. During the review, JMM representatives, MLA Sudivya Kumar and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya, presented their concerns to the commission.
The JMM also urged the EC to prohibit leaders from making speeches based on religion or caste during the campaign. According to JMM, such speeches by BJP leaders since August have caused societal divisions. The EC will hold multiple meetings with political parties, enforcement agencies, and government officials over their two-day stay.
