Delhi experienced significant traffic disruptions on Friday following consistent rainfall that led to waterlogged streets across the city. The traffic police reported severe congestion on key roads, including NH-48 from Dhaula Kuan to Mahipalpur, and MB Road near Sainik Farms and Saket Metro Station. Motorists also faced issues on Mathura Road, from Ashram to Badarpur.
The Public Works Department (PWD) disclosed they received 85 complaints regarding waterlogging, and workers are currently engaged in clearing the affected areas. Furthermore, the PWD noted 13 incidents of tree falls. Despite the challenges, all underpasses and subways remain open for traffic. The police have advised commuters to avoid severely affected areas like Mundka and to opt for alternative routes.
Social media users shared their frustration, reporting traffic standstills in several parts of Delhi, including the Embassy Area, Delhi Gurgaon Road, Patel Nagar, and MG Road. A significant pothole on Old Pankha Road exacerbated the situation, causing delays near the Uttam Nagar East metro station. Both the PWD and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are actively addressing the issues caused by the rain.
