Court Upholds $5M Verdict Against Trump for Defaming E. Jean Carroll
A federal appeals court upheld a $5-million verdict for E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump for sexual abuse and defamation. The court noted a pattern of behavior consistent with allegations against Trump. Despite Trump's denials, the jury awarded Carroll damages for sexual assault and defamation.

A federal appeals court has affirmed the $5-million verdict in favor of E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump, citing a unanimous decision by a three-judge panel from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. The jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing and later defaming the former magazine columnist.
The court dismissed Trump's argument that the trial was unfair, pointing to evidence such as the 'Access Hollywood' video. The judges noted a pattern of conduct consistent with Carroll's claims. Despite Trump's attempts to discredit Carroll, jurors awarded her $2.02 million for sexual assault and $2.98 million for defamation.
Trump's lawyers contended that the trial judge should have excluded testimonies from two other women alleging misconduct. However, the appeals court maintained that these testimonies were relevant in demonstrating a pattern of behavior. Trump's spokesperson continues to call the case a 'hoax' while Carroll's legal team expresses gratification over the decision.
