The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced on Friday that it has received an impressive haul of over 35,000 metric tons of rails and advanced track construction machinery for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project.
Flash-butt welding has commenced on viaducts near Surat and Anand in Gujarat, creating 200-meter long rail panels. The 508 km high-speed corridor will feature a J-Slab track system, a pioneering approach in India inspired by Japan's Shinkansen system.
Mechanized track installation is underway using Japanese-specification machinery, including rail feeder cars, track slab laying vehicles, and flash-butt welding machines. NHSRCL has also initiated specialized training programs for Indian engineers to master Shinkansen construction techniques. The project marks a critical milestone in India's infrastructural development.
