Air India Express to Merge with Air India Connect in October: New COO Appointed

Air India Express (AIX) is set to merge with Air India Connect in October, appointing Hamish Maxwell as the new COO. Maxwell, currently Vistara's Senior VP for flight operations, will succeed Pushpinder Singh. The merger is part of a broader strategy, including the planned merger of Air India and Vistara in November.

Air India Express (AIX) is targeting an October merger with another Tata Group subsidiary, Air India Connect. This revelation was made in an internal communication on Friday.

In the process, Hamish Maxwell will be taking over as the new Chief Operating Officer of the merged entity. Maxwell will replace Pushpinder Singh, who will return to Air India after completing his deputation.

Maxwell, currently Vistara's Senior Vice President for flight operations, brings a wealth of experience and will lead AIX through the next phases of growth and transformation. Under Singh's leadership, AIX managed to expand operations significantly, inducting over 30 aircraft and growing its flight network to 46 stations within a year.
