A 28-year-old woman had a miraculous escape on Monday when she fell into the platform gap in Dombivali, Thane district, but was saved due to the quick thinking of commuters and railway officials.

The incident occurred at 8:50am during the morning rush hour as Mansi Kir attempted to board a suburban train. Passengers immediately alerted the motorman and pulled the emergency chain to stop the train.

Deputy station officer Animesh Kumar and railway security force member Bhavna Singh, along with other commuters, managed to pull Kir from the tracks in a rescue operation that took 15-20 minutes. To facilitate the rescue, some passengers alighted from the train to reduce its load. Kir sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
