Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) confirmed on Monday the tragic death of a crew member after flight LX1885's emergency landing last week. In a heartfelt Facebook post, the airline expressed grief, stating, "Today is a dark day for SWISS. It is with heavy hearts that we must share the loss of a dear colleague." The incident occurred on December 23, 2024, when the Airbus A220-300 experienced an engine problem, forcing the crew to make an urgent landing in Graz.

SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger and COO Oliver Buchhofer conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family, emphasizing the profound impact of the loss. Fehlinger remarked, "We are devastated at our dear colleague's death. His loss has left us all in the deepest shock and grief. Our thoughts are with his family, whose pain we cannot imagine." The airline pledged to provide full support to the victim's family during this challenging period.

Buchhofer added, "This is the saddest of days for us all. Losing our colleague leaves me distraught and dismayed." He reaffirmed the company's commitment to collaborating with authorities to uncover the incident's causes and extended gratitude to local emergency services in Graz for their swift action. The incident involved the safe evacuation of all 74 passengers and five crew members following the emergency landing.
