Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the extensive strides made by Indian Railways in addressing long-standing concerns, emphasizing that the aim is to guarantee comfortable travel for all citizens. His statement came during the virtual inauguration of three Vande Bharat Express trains.
In his remarks, Modi underscored the progress and new solutions Indian Railways has brought through consistent hard work over the years. 'We will not stop until Indian Railways becomes a guarantee of comfortable travel for everyone,' he stated.
The newly inaugurated trains will connect Meerut with Lucknow, Madurai with Bengaluru, and Chennai with Nagercoil. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve rail transport, especially in southern states, which Modi identified as crucial for realizing the dream of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. The prime minister also pointed out that significant budgetary allocations to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have bolstered rail infrastructure in these regions. The Vande Bharat trains are expected to drastically reduce travel times between these cities, enhancing convenience for passengers.
