The picturesque coastal town of Kanyakumari saw the unveiling of India's first glass bridge on Monday evening. Stretching 77 meters, this transparent structure connects two iconic landmarks — the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the mighty 133-feet Thiruvalluvar statue.
The bridge, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, promises to offer an immersive experience for tourists with its breathtaking views of the surrounding sea and monuments. Built at a cost of Rs 37 crore, the project coincides with the silver jubilee of the acclaimed Thiruvalluvar statue, initially unveiled by the late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
With a bowstring arch design, this engineering marvel can endure the corrosive coastal climate, adding a new dimension to the Land's End. The inauguration ceremony concluded with a laser light spectacle at the Thiruvalluvar statue, attended by notable dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and MP Kanimozhi.
