In a daring rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard saved two Karnataka-based fishermen off the Ratnagiri coast in Maharashtra after their boat started sinking on Thursday, according to officials.
The Coast Guard received a distress message at 4:23 pm from the fishing boat 'Mauli,' approximately 12.7 nautical miles from Ratnagiri. A hole had formed in the boat, prompting the local ICG station to launch a rescue mission.
An Advanced Light Helicopter Mk-1 was deployed within an hour, successfully winching the fishermen aboard despite severe weather conditions. The fishermen, from Malpe in Karnataka, were given immediate medical attention at the Air Station. The boat is believed to have sunk, the Coast Guard reported.
