In a significant relief measure, the Delhi government announced on Thursday the waiver of the annual fee for the Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) for all commercial passenger vehicles in the city.
At a press conference, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot confirmed the decision, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Delhi transport department and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for the implementation of the VLTD project.
"Previously, vehicle owners had to pay an annual fee of Rs 1,200 plus 18% GST, totaling Rs 1,416. This exemption will benefit approximately 1.5 lakh public vehicle owners across Delhi," Gahlot stated.
