Cabinet Approves Major Railway Projects Benefiting Eastern States
The Indian Cabinet has approved three significant railway projects worth Rs 6,456 crore, which will enhance transportation networks and logistical efficiency across Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. These projects, part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aim to streamline supply chains and bolster economic growth, reaching around 1,300 villages and 19 lakh people.

The Indian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has greenlit three substantial railway projects amounting to Rs 6,456 crore. These initiatives are set to greatly benefit Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh by boosting logistical efficiency, connecting previously isolated areas, and enhancing the transportation network.
''The three new railway projects approved today by the Cabinet will significantly aid Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. Benefits include seamless transportation of goods and easier passenger travel,'' Modi stated on social media platform X.
According to the Ministry of Railways, these projects, which align with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity, will increase the Indian Railways' network by 300 kilometers and encompass seven districts across four states. The projects will provide better connectivity to approximately 1,300 villages and aim to support 19 lakh people, fostering economic growth and employment opportunities.
