The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out multiple raids in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, focusing on individuals linked to CPI (Maoist) cadres and supporters implicated in the March 2023 road blockade incident.

As per an official NIA statement, a total of 35 individuals have been accused in connection to the March 20, 2023, blockade. CPI (Maoist) cadres had obstructed various stretches of the Narayanpur-Orchha Main Road by cutting trees, placing rocks, and digging trenches with the intent to ambush police and seize their weapons.

Ongoing investigations under case RC-09/2024/NIA/RPR have revealed the involvement of Maad Bachao Manch, a CPI (Maoist) front organization. The group has been accused of conducting protests, aiding in the establishment of new camps, and providing logistical support to the Maoists.

Four suspected members of Maad Bachao Manch were targeted in the NIA searches on Tuesday, which took place in the Maoist-dominated regions of Kasturmeta, Madali, and Malkal villages, located within the Maad Division of CPI (Maoist).

Investigations continue to unravel the full extent of the network and its operations. (ANI)
