A recent report by ClarityX, supported by MapmyIndia, has unveiled substantial economic disparities among various Indian districts. The report found that the majority of households with an annual income exceeding Rs 5 lakh are largely concentrated in 150 districts, constituting the top 20% economically.

The ClarityX District Potential Index 2024, which utilizes a blend of MapmyIndia's data repository and government data sources, noted a significant increase in luminosity across the nation—from 17% to 30% over the past four years. This index assesses growth in districts by evaluating socio-economic indicators such as income distribution, healthcare, educational facilities, infrastructure, and financial activities like banking coverage.

In terms of healthcare, the report observed notable improvements, with healthcare facilities per 1,000 people increasing dramatically from around 263 to 903. Bengaluru Urban and Hyderabad emerged as the highest scoring districts in 2023. Meanwhile, states in the western region, including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, showcased some of the fastest growth rates.
