Thirteen people have tragically died, and 14 others remain missing after a boat capsized off the Yemeni coast on Tuesday, according to a statement from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) released on Sunday.

The ill-fated vessel, carrying 25 Ethiopian nationals and two Yemenis, was sailing near Yemen's Taiz governorate, as confirmed by IOM officials. The deceased, identified as 11 men and two women, were found along the shores of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a crucial maritime route for global trade.

Efforts to locate the missing individuals, including the Yemeni captain and his assistant, are still ongoing. The cause of the sinking remains unknown. This incident echoes a similar tragedy in July, when a boat carrying at least 45 refugees capsized in the same region, leaving only four survivors. Since 2014, IOM has recorded 2,082 migrant deaths and disappearances along this perilous migration route.
