Two devastating bus accidents claimed the lives of at least 34 people in northeast and southwest Pakistan on Sunday, authorities confirmed.

Twelve pilgrims lost their lives on the Makran Coastal Highway in the southwest, according to the interior ministry, while a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in Pakistan-ruled Kashmir, killing 22, said a rescue official. Rescue coordinator Rawalpindi Muhammad Usman noted that the bus carried 25 passengers, including six women and a child, with just one passenger critically injured. The interior ministry reported 29 deaths in the Kashmir crash.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, mentioning another tragic incident on Wednesday where 28 Pakistani pilgrims died in a bus overturn in central Iran.
