Denied an extra day of leave by her employer, she returned to work only to fall victim to a powerful vapor cloud explosion at the Escientia Advanced Sciences Pvt Ltd plant.

Harika had gone home to celebrate Raksha Bandhan and had hoped to stay for a competitive examination. However, her request was denied, leading to her return and eventual death in the incident, which occurred at 2.20 pm on August 21. The explosion killed 17 people, including Harika, leaving her family devastated.

The incident has sparked outrage among the families of the deceased and injured. They criticized the plant's management for failing to notify them immediately about the disaster. Survivors recounted the chaos and horror, with some narrowly escaping through emergency exits. The plant's management, reportedly based in the US, is now under scrutiny as authorities investigate the incident.
