The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has registered 21.67 lakh new workers under its ESI scheme in June 2024, showcasing a 7% rise compared to the previous year, according to the latest payroll data.

In June 2023, ESIC had added 20.27 lakh new members, as per a labour ministry statement. Of the current additions, 10.58 lakh workers, which form around 49% of the total registrations, are aged 25 years or younger.

In June 2024, the net enrolment of female members stood at 4.32 lakh. Furthermore, 55 transgender employees were also registered under the ESI scheme during this period. Additionally, 13,483 new establishments were brought under the social security ambit of the ESI scheme, expanding social security coverage to more workers. The payroll data remains provisional as data generation is an ongoing process.
