Air India announced on Thursday that it will temporarily add extra flights to Kolkata from four Indian cities to accommodate the festive rush during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. Beginning September 20, 2024, the airline will run daily, non-stop flights to Kolkata from Bengaluru and Hyderabad for nearly a month.

The airline has also augmented its flight frequency to Kolkata from Delhi starting August 15, 2024, and from Mumbai effective September 25, 2024. With these new additions, Air India aims to increase its service on the Delhi-Kolkata route from 28 to 35 weekly flights and on the Mumbai-Kolkata route from 21 to 28 weekly flights.

The new flights are scheduled at convenient times, offering more options and ease for travelers planning to visit family and friends during the festive season. Additionally, Air India's flights to and from Kolkata are designed to facilitate seamless connections through its hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to destinations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, as well as various countries in Europe and Southeast Asia. Last month, Air India announced that its Airbus A350-900 will serve the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes starting November 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, respectively, enhancing passenger experience on these key routes.

Currently, Air India flies to five destinations in the U.S.: New York JFK, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco, with 51 weekly flights between India and the United States. Since its inaugural flight on October 15, 1932, Air India has established a vast domestic network, operating non-stop flights to several global cities across the USA, Canada, UK, Europe, the Far-East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Gulf. The airline joined the Tata group in January 2022 after 69 years as a government-owned entity.
