For instance, the one-way economy class fare for non-stop Delhi-Chennai flights has soared by 25% to Rs 7,618. Similar trends are observed on the Mumbai-Hyderabad and Delhi-Goa routes, among others. However, certain routes report fare drops by up to 27%.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced the ministry's plans to introduce an online mechanism to address grievances related to fare hikes. Currently, airline fares are self-regulated as per the post-repeal era of the Air Corporation Act in 1994.
