Angola's oil and gas sector is poised for significant growth, fueled by the 2025 Limited Tender, which offers ten exploration blocks in the Kwanza and Benguela basins. As the second-largest oil producer in sub-Saharan Africa and a seasoned LNG exporter, Angola is set to enhance its global energy contributions through new international partnerships.

The Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) event, the country's premier international oil and gas gathering, serves as a vital platform for fostering collaboration between Angola and global stakeholders. This year’s event features delegations from the UK, Netherlands, UAE, Brazil, US, Europe, and Australia, among others. A highlight of the event is the panel discussion titled "Synergies through Collaboration: International Ventures in Africa’s Oil Sector," which will explore strategic cooperation areas, including Angola’s trade relations, investment opportunities, and collaborative projects.

Supported by key organizations including the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, national oil company Sonangol, the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, the African Energy Chamber, and the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute, AOG is set to be a significant venue for advancing Angola’s oil and gas industry. Angola's oil industry, which has been thriving since the 1960s, continues to benefit from collaborations with international oil majors such as ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Eni, bp (now Azule Energy), and Chevron. This partnership-driven approach is supported by a $60 billion investment pipeline and several key projects. Notably, the Agogo Integrated West Hub project, developed by Azule Energy, is set for first production by 2026 and will feature a new production hub at Block 15/06 with an FPSO capacity of 120,000 barrels per day (bpd). The Kaminho deepwater project, developed by TotalEnergies, Petronas, and Sonangol, is expected to produce first oil by 2028 and will include an FPSO with a 70,000 bpd capacity. Additionally, the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields, Angola’s first non-associated gas project, are scheduled to commence production by 2026 and will supply feedstock to the Angolan LNG plant.

Angola is also strengthening its global ties through various agreements. Recent deals include diplomatic and professional exchange agreements with Timor-Leste, an investment agreement with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and 14 agreements with Ivory Coast covering diverse sectors. In May 2024, Angola and South Korea signed five MoUs, focusing on bilateral trade, investment, energy, and infrastructure.

The "Synergies through Collaboration: International Ventures in Africa’s Oil Sector" panel at AOG 2024 is expected to pave the way for future partnerships, with discussions on Angola’s successful international ventures, new investment opportunities, and contributions to global energy security.
