The BJP on Thursday criticized the Congress for a police lathi-charge on protesters demanding the demolition of an alleged illegal portion of a mosque in Himachal Pradesh. They asked the party to cease appeasement politics.

Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Lok Sabha MP and party national spokesperson Sambit Patra also condemned the Congress over violence in Mandya district of Karnataka. He alleged that stones were pelted and slippers were thrown at Lord Ganesh's idol at the behest of the Congress party.

Patra accused the Congress of pursuing appeasement politics in the two states under its rule, saying the party's actions are inciting violence and division. In response, BJP demanded the demolition of the illegal mosque portion in Shimla and accountability for the violence in Karnataka.
