In response to heightened regional tensions, Britain and Egypt have instructed their airlines to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace. This precaution follows the assassination of key figures in militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

Airlines worldwide are modifying their flight paths to steer clear of Iranian and Lebanese airspace while canceling flights to Israel and Lebanon. The focus on avoiding conflict zones harks back to the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine in 2014, which resulted in 298 fatalities.

United Airlines has prolonged its suspension of Tel Aviv flights, initially paused on July 31 over security concerns, as it monitors the situation. Similarly, Delta Air Lines has halted its New York-Tel Aviv route through August 31. British airlines have complied with the advisory, while Singapore Airlines reroutes to prioritize safety.

Egyptian airlines, previously avoiding Iranian airspace, received new directives mandating an airspace avoidance window from 0100 to 0400 GMT on Thursday. OPSGROUP noted that this advisory applies to all Egyptian carriers. The notice, confirmed by Egypt's civil aviation ministry, aims to mitigate risks following alerts about Iranian military exercises.

The directive aligns with heightened caution across the region, as exemplified by Jordan advising airlines to carry extra fuel. Amidst recent aerial attacks, many regional airspaces, including Jordan's, have been intermittently closed.
