India's most extensive Greenfield Expressway project, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, is scheduled to be completed by October 2025, as confirmed in the Parliament on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, informed the Rajya Sabha that the expressway's construction spans 1,386 km divided into 53 packages, out of which 26 are already finished.

Gadkari highlighted that 82% of the work is accomplished, and 1,136 km of the expressway has been built. The revised completion date is October 2025.

The expressway will enhance connectivity to significant economic centers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, markedly reducing travel times and distances.

In a separate update, Gadkari noted that as of June 30, 2024, there are 983 functional user fee plazas on National Highways.
