The government has announced the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024, aiming to support up to 3.72 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) during a four-month period from April to July. According to the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the scheme will cater to 3,33,387 electric two-wheelers, 13,590 e-rickshaws or e-carts, and 25,238 electric three-wheelers in the L5 category. The scheme's funding will be limited and will restrict the number of vehicles based on availability, with subsidies provided until funds are exhausted or the maximum vehicle limit is reached by July 31, 2024.

EMPS 2024's goal is to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, thereby contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly transportation system in the country.
