Days ahead of the Union Budget, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the importance of adaptable economic policies for India's growth. Speaking at the launch of 'Made in China,' a Marathi book by Loksatta editor Girish Kuber, Gadkari underscored the need for a socio-economic model that could foster job creation and reduce disparity.

Gadkari noted the shifting economic conditions in China, where many countries were hesitant to conduct business due to the post-COVID-19 recession-like scenario. He advocated for an economic approach prioritizing employment, poverty alleviation, and reduced disparity.

Recalling his interaction with the Chinese president, Gadkari stressed the importance of a flexible mindset in economic policies to attract investments, boost exports, and enhance rural development. He concluded that India must focus on quality and cost-effective production to compete globally, especially in technology and the automobile sector.
